14x36" poster on heavy stock for the original 1953 Paramount Pictures sci-fi film starring Gene Barry and Ann Robinson, widely considered to be one of the great sci-fi films of the 1950s. Poster features stunning image of large Martian hand reaching towards man and woman under the film's title (same art as featured on the one-sheet movie poster) w/additional film scene showing man being grabbed by Martian arm emerging from ship at bottom. Poster has three horizontal folds as issued. Poster is evenly aged and shows moderate wear, including small margin tears and 1" to 3" tears along edges of original fold lines (w/archival tape repairs on reverse) as well as .5x.75" area of chipping along lower left margin. Corners has paper reinforcements on reverse. Small area of inking on reverse, though this does not show through onto front. These defects are mostly confined to the margins and fold lines of poster. All art remains clean. If matted and framed, these issues would be mostly hidden. Good overall, but an optimal candidate for restoration or linen-mounting. Classic poster for a classic sci-fi film featuring film scene that is not part of the original one-sheet poster design.
