Item Description
6x6.5x6.5" tall wood box w/paper labels has hinged lid and opens to reveal a 5" tall pop-up Mickey Mouse head. Toy was produced and sold by Marks Bros. Co. w/the Mickey head supplied by Knickerbocker. 1930s. Each side of box features same image of Minnie Mouse. The cloth stuffed head has felt ears, oilcloth eyes and fabric collar and is mounted to a fabric-covered spring. This example retains the original fabric body and collar as well as the Knickerbocker head. Inside bottom has had cardboard tube added to contain spring. This area has some professional restoration to strengthen it. Exterior of box has moderate fading, more noticeable to front. Scattered edge/corner tip wear, w/some flaking of paper labels. Metal latch has some oxidation. Fine. Mickey's head has some aging and is Fine overall. Rare. From the Maurice Sendak Collection and comes with COA.
