Item Description
2x5.5x7-1/8" tall cast aluminum figural doorstop. Cast and painted as Mickey Mouse by an unknown maker as piece is unmarked. 1930s. Unusual design features include over-sized shoes and though his head is turned, both ears remain in frontal view. One leg is slightly bent at knee (as produced) and his chest protrudes slightly. Scattered paint wear w/areas of bare metal showing on nose. Paint on gloves shows aging, w/crazing to surface. Fine overall. This item was privately purchased by Maurice Sendak for $17,500. Among the rarest 1930s Mickey Mouse figural items. From the Maurice Sendak Collection and comes with COA.
