Item Description
10-3/8x13.5" thin artboard has original pen and ink (w/screen tone shading/accents) art by John Severin (1921-2012), noted for his distinctive work w/EC Comics, primarily on the war comics "Two-Fisted Tales" and "Frontline Combat" as well as for his Marvel Comics work, especially its war and Western comics; and for his 45-year stint w/the satiric magazine "Cracked." He was one of the founding cartoonists of "Mad" in 1952. Art is for Oct. 1954 issue #39 of "Two-Fisted Tales" story "The Secret" and consists of eight panels, showing weapons inventor/physicist meeting w/President Eisenhower. Top margin has "Silver Printed" double stamp and bottom margin has "2 Fisted" title stamp at left. Scattered editorial notations at margins and Severin has signed bottom margin in black felt tip pen, adding "'88" date. Edges have some aging but art remains cleans and if matted, would display Exc.
