Item Description
Each is 3.5x5.5". First is inauguration issue reading "Peaceful Bill And Sunny Jim/Will Be Pleased To Meet You At Washington March 4th 1909." Pencil notations on hats read "1909." Interesting to note an Indianapolis postal cancellation dated October 18, 1908, weeks before the general election. A few small creases but clean. VG. Second is classic "Elephant Ears" design as used on button. Text reads "Everybody Here Is Boosting" For "Smiling Bill" And "Sunny Jim"/Copyright 1908 National Button Co. Des Moines, IA." Princeton Maine October 24, 1908 postal cancellation. A perfect companion piece to the classic button. Fine. Rare. Julie Powell Collection.
