Item Description
First is "Western Union Telegram" headed by dateline "833A EST (eastern standard time) Nov 24 63" with next line citing origin as Govt PD The White House DC." Body text begins "You Are Invited To Attend The Funeral Services For President Kennedy In St. Matthews Cathedral, Washington, D.C., On Monday November 25 At 12 Noon." With additional instructions on obtaining admission documents. Sender is "Angier Biddle Duke Chief Of Protocol Department Of State." Original folds and lightly tanned. Next are a pair of 2-5/8x3-7/8" cards both reading "Present At Entrance/St. Matthews Cathedral" but one specifies "Center Right Rear/Personal Friends" and the other with cross out changing "Left" to "Right" specifies "Center Right Rear/Friends-Professional & Business." Each card has one small piece of clear tape on one edge showing very little. Next are two slightly different black bordered folders, 4-7/8x7-7/8", printed only on the front. Each has light center fold, trace of minor tanning and the first has tiny piece of clear tape on top and bottom edge. This has one 5/8" embossed Presidential Seal at top. The other does not. Both read in full "Funeral Services/Of/John Fitzgerald Kennedy/Late President Of The United States/November Twenty-Fifth/Nineteen Hundred And Sixty Three/At/Twelve Noon/Saint Matthews Cathedral/Rhode Island Avenue NW/Between 17th And 18th." Near VF. Next is 3.5x4.75" photographic card with JFK with name, title, birth and death date on reverse along with three paragraphs taken from JFK's inaugural address which begins "Now The Trumpet Summons Us Again." Small piece of clear tape on top and bottom edge. Next is 3.5x5-1/8" booklet of 32 pages with cover titled "The Mass On The Day Of Burial" used during the service. Tiny piece of clear tape on inside back cover top and bottom edge, rest Mint. Last is black bordered mourning envelope 4.25x5-1/8" that held one of the black bordered folders. Hand address in ink to "Mr. & Mrs. Jerry Bruno." Tiny piece of clear tape on left margin, rest VF. All items of very limited distribution. Jerry Bruno Collection. Comes with Hake's COA.
