Item Description
Lot of three tin litho penguin toys, ranging in height from 3.25" to 4.75" tall. Smallest was made in Occupied Japan by Alps in the 1940s. Built-in key on back and works. Exc./NM. Comes w/original illustrated cardboard box, missing all but one bottom flap. Remains Fine for display. 3.75" tall wind-up penguin (w/replaced key) w/green coat was made in France in the 1950s and is unmarked. Friction action works, and penguin moves forward as wings flap. Scattered paint nicks/scratches w/scattered traces of oxidation. Fine. "Percy Penguin" comes w/original cardboard box w/illustrated lid and was made in Japan by Nomura, 1950s. Penguin is on skis and has contestant number on front/back. Ski poles attached to flippers and skis on feet. Toy has working friction mechanism and as it travels forward, penguin raises and lowers its arms as a chirping sound is produced. Exc. Box shows some aging and wear. VF overall. Nice trio.
