Item numbers 1197 through 2870 in auction 211
Item Description
20.25x28.25" poster for 1967 American release of the 1961 Japanese film "The Last War," also known as "Great World War," a tokusatsu (a Japanese term that applies to any live-action film or television drama that features considerable use of special effects) film produced and released by Toho Studios. Its special effects were created by Eiji Tsuburaya who is also known for working on Godzilla and Ultraman. Created as an anti-war, nuclear apocalypse sci-fi film, the film obviously drew on Japan's formidable memory of the atomic bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki at the end of World War II. Poster is dominated by large atomic mushroom cloud and features "Learn What Will Happen If Another Global War Breaks Out" text. Poster has been folded into quarters and has all over lt. handling wear, most only visible in reflected light. Displays Fine. Scarce.
