Item Description
Ammonites represent some of the most beautiful fossils in the world of paleontology. Once a dominant species on our planet, Ammonites were found in oceans across the globe for almost 350 million years, ranging in size from less than an inch, to more monstrous proportions. Offered here is an impressive 9.25x12x2.25" thick Ammonite fossil from the Geisonoceras genus, which dates to the Devonian Period (417 to 354 million years ago) and was excavated from deposits near Erfoud, Morocco. Ammonite has been polished to a high gloss, nicely spotlighting many of the animal's chambers that have been replaced w/Calcite.
