Auction #211 - Part I
Item numbers 1 through 1196 in auction 211
Item Description
Hematite is a mineral, colored black to steel or silver-gray, brown to reddish brown, or red. It is mined as the main ore of iron. Hematite is harder than pure iron, but much more brittle. We are offering a nearly 6 lb. solid piece of hematite that has been sculpted to show the heads of two men, one w/beard, one w/o. Three tall leaves appear behind them. Piece has engraved "M Luco" artist signature on underside, along w"#1" notation. The hematite used for this sulpture was mined from an iron deposit rich area of Minas Gerais, a northeast Brazilian state.
