Item Description
4.5" dia. base w/9" tall bust of Dick Tracy from the waist up, a gun in his hand. Total height of lamp w/bulb and shade in place is 16". Store item by Plasto Mfg. Co. of Chicago, IL. 1951. Lamp base back has incised text that reads "© Chicago Tribune" and base front has incised "Dick Tracy" name. Sold unpainted, to be painted by purchaser. This example has been nicely painted as intended and has been rewired and works. Shade has image of Tracy w/two identical images of Sparkle Plenty on other two-thirds. Shade remains sturdy w/moderate lt. creasing as is often the case w/this type of shade. Moderate but even aging, Fine w/Exc. images remaining bright and clean. Among the rarest Dick Tracy merchandise items, the only other example we have ever offered (which was unpainted) sold for $2,036.
