Item Description
With the end of the War, the comic market began a slow drift away from superheroes. Some of them, like Superman and Batman were able to hang on, but comic publishers had to scramble in order to attract readers. Many turned to crime books, others turned to the Western genre to fill the void. Superior Comics (Farrell Publications) turned to a character that they had been using off and on since 1938. They gave him his own title and the market seemed to respond. The Lone Rider lasted 26 issues. Over the course of the four years of his existence he built up a solid storyline, but the character just ended up disappearing as more households got a television. The Lone Rider did have some rather unusual villains for a western. Primary among them was the 50,000 year old immortal telepath, Dr. Chuda. The pages are white. This unrestored book is CGC-certified 9.4 (NM). According to the CGC Census this is the highest-graded copy they have seen. It is also recognized as part of the Mile High Collection.
