Item Description
Aquaman is one of the very few characters to survive the decline of superheroes in the late forties and early fifties. Always a back-up feature in one book or another, he was finally rewarded with his own title in 1962. The book lasted until 1977. Many critics agree that the best period of his 15 year run occurred around the appearance of this issue. Bob Haney was doing the stories and Nick Cardy was creating terrifically timely covers and doing imaginative interior art. The book contains an appearance by Aquaman’s main nemesis, Ocean-Master. It also has Go-Go checks across the top. That puts it in a category of its own. The pages are off-white. This unrestored book is CGC-certified 9.4 (NM). According to the CGC Census, this copy is tied with two others as the highest-graded copy they have seen.
