Item Description
There are many varieties of 1896 anti-Bryan medals referred to as Bryan Money but relatively few that include his portrait. This large piece made of aluminum with bright silver luster is 3-5/16" (85mm) and is cataloged by Schorenstein in his book Bryan Money as #902 and he notes the item was made by W.E. Surface, Decatur, Illinois. One side reads "16 To 1/NIT (meaning Not In Trust)/1896." On the side with his image the text reads "In God/We Trust/For The Other 47 Cents." NM.
