Item Description
1.5" tall including the pin. Depicted all in embossed brass in several separate segments with a simulated leather band going around the horse's neck that on very close inspection has the text "Our Teddy" although the "R" of "Our" and the "TE" of "Teddy" are very lightly struck and not readable. The piece is Essentially Mint as made and has a clever action activated by holding the horse's rear leg and pressing against the brass piece below the horse's body. This causes the figure of TR to rock back and forth in his saddle with one hand holding imaginary reins while his raised hand holding a saber moves up and down independently. His Rough Rider hat and eye glasses are prominent on the head. There is a simulated bedroll behind him along the rear edge of the horse's back. The only additional text on the piece is embossed into the folded brass mechanism on the reverse and reading "Pat Appld For." A beautiful example of a quite rare mechanical. Julie Powell Collection.
