Item Description
Joan Jett Blakk is the drag persona of actor, writer and political candidate Terence Smith. Smith billed himself as a blend of Divine, David Bowie and Grace Jones with a career dating back to 1994 and another political campaign in 1990 running against Richard M. Daley for Mayor of Chicago. His 1992 Presidential campaign included the slogan "Lick Bush in '92" which appears on the first of these 3" tall buttons. His 1996 campaign used the slogan "Lick Slick Willie In '96!" Which appears on the second of these buttons. Both buttons include the text "I Want You, Honey!/Queer Nation Party." The third button in this series reads "Still Here! Joan Jett Blakk In '96! Still Queer!" All three buttons are from the Marshall Levin Collection and the last two have his small pencil date of "1993" on the cardboard reverses. All are Mint. Comes with Hake's COA.
