Item Description
Mandela was released in February 1990 and in June he visited New York City for three days where over 1 million New Yorker's turned out for a series of events in his honor. The first three items in this group relate to that visit. The first are a pair of 7.75" tall fabric ribbons each picturing and reading "Mandela" with one reading "Welcome To America June 1990" and the other "World's Only Living Legend/1990/USA." These are Essentially Mint. With these comes a piece of black, green and yellow fabric 4.5" wide by 26" long. This fabric was used at some event during those days and pinned to it is a hand written card from collector Marshall Levin reading "Visit Of Nelson Mandela To NYC, June 1990." There are three additional items in the lot, one a 2.25" button issued prior to his release and reading "Free Nelson & Winnie Mandela." Curl has New York City address and group name "National Alliance Against Racist And Political Repression." Mint. Next is a 3" button dated for the day of his release "Feb. 11 1990" and with the word "Freedom!" Mint. Last is a black cord holding a two-sided black leather pendant 3.25" in diameter with colorful center piece reading "Africa Unite/Mandela For President." Mint. Comes with Hake's COA.
