Item Description
1.5" oval silvered badge with reverse horizontal bar pin and front serial number of "2603." Above the number is the stylized company logo more or less in a teardrop shape accented by a stylized bird head and pair of wings. The company was founded in 1910 by William and Oliver Thomas who, like aviation pioneer Glenn Curtiss, operated an aviation school in addition to producing aircraft. The company took on this name in 1917 and went out of business in 1934. The piece shows some small loss of silver luster from the edge and center area has some tarnish but overall in Fine condition and a rare early aviation industry employee badge. From the estate of Carl B. Chupp, see two previous items as well as item 644.
