Item Description
Raised text on baseball designed suspension in silvered brass with slightly convex surface joined to a loop and bar holding a 4.75" black ribbon which extends an additional 1.5" holding a brass loop joined to an ornate brass frame which holds a glass baseball which is free to move on its axis. Some loss of silver luster from the metal piece but overall condition is VF. This group was formed in 1902 as an umbrella organization for the minor leagues. The agreement established league classifications, roster and salary limits and a system for drafting players. It also created a Board Of Arbitration that could suspend players, clubs or officials for violations. Patrick Powers was elected the first President. Michael Sexton was President at the time of this 1928 convention. Powers and Sexton are considered "Fathers" of Minor League Baseball. A rare piece which saw very limited distribution.
