Item Description
2-1/8" with metal back and bar pin. Item is dated for May 22, 1939. Graphic shows illustration from 1862 related to the namesake for this ship with tiny text reading "Quarter-Master James Buck, Seriously Wounded, Standing At The Wheel Of The U.S.S. Brooklyn During Engagement With Fort Jackson Below New Orleans, April 24 and 25 1862." While button displays Essentially Mint we just discovered in reflected light a 1.5" vertical hairline crack .5" to the left of the right edge. This destroyer was sunk by a German submarine October 9, 1943 in the Mediterranean Sea off of Italy. The ship received three battle stars. A rarity.
