Item Description
Lot of three 9.5x12" sheets of animation paper, each w/art associated w/the 1930 Mickey Mouse cartoon "The Gorilla Mystery." First sheet is a bkg. layout for the cartoon w/a blocked image area measuring 7x9.25" and is marked "Scene 8" at bottom and shows piano, piano bench and table w/candlestick telephone w/receiver off the hook. Sheet has moderate aging/wear along right margin. 7.25" diagonal line of rust soiling at lower right, only infringing upon art slightly. Fine overall. Second sheet is concept study art w/image area measuring 5.75x6.5" and depicts Beppo the Gorilla in a pose similar (but not exact/used) to scene in "The Gorilla Mystery." Sheet has vertical fold at center and scattered handling wear. Though vertical crease does go across Beppo image, art still displays Exc. Last sheet has image area measuring 4x5" and depicts full body image of Mickey Mouse w/gun in hand, gun having accordion spring w/bird at end. Mickey fires this gun at partial image of Beppo the Gorilla, which is mostly scribbled out. Art is done in lead pencil and is attributed to Tom Palmer. Vertical fold at center, sheet has some handling wear/aging, but art remains Exc. Fabulous trio for this early Mickey Mouse short, would look great framed together.
