Item Description
Original illustrated box contains 3x4x4.75" tall tin litho bank. Kalon Mfg. Co. 1950s. Box has two inner flaps loose (but included). Scattered wear w/1" split to top flap panel. Fine. Bank has large decal applied to the front featuring same image of Popeye holding spinach can that appears on box. Sides and back of bank feature illustrations of children in various activities such as riding a bike, flying an airplane, cowboy playing guitar, holding caged birds, w/horse, etc. Originally produced as a non-character bank, simply converted to Popeye by means of the decal and the addition of the box w/Popeye graphics. Decal has a .25" split/flake at center rivet (likely as produced) but is o/w Exc. Bank is scarce, box is rare.
