Item Description
5x8-5/8x1.25" deep slightly textured paper-covered cardboard pencil box w/snap closure. Eagle Pencil Co. ©1933 KFS, Inc. Top and bottom feature two different designs set against metallic silver. Top of box features large full body image of Popeye carrying ship's anchor w/word balloon reading "They Makes These Ankers Too Delycut." Underside image shows Popeye and Olive Oyl and Swee'Pea in "Olive Oyl" rowboat as Popeye lifts large ship, in which Wimpy looks down from. Word balloon reads "Well Blow Me Down!! Move Over! Ain't Ye Got No Manners?" Box opens to reveal sectioned storage tray w/separate slide-out tray. Box contains complete and unused Eagle crayons (which show heavy aging/wear), generic metal protractor, eraser, three Eagle "Popeye" pencils and illustrated Popeye ruler. Also included is a "How To Draw Cartoons" illustrated 4-page flyer by Chuck Thorndike. Folded as issued and lightly aged. Box contents are VG (in the case of the crayons) to Exc. Box itself has aged from a lt. green to an olive color on the exterior while interior remains bright w/area of staining to underside of lid (which does not show through to exterior) from crayons. As such, box displays VF. Old store stock. Rare as complete and w/Popeye ruler.
