Item numbers 1 through 988 in auction 212
Item Description
22.25x28" thin cardboard poster for May 25, 1962 professional wrestling exhibition at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Poster's top attraction is the Bob Ellis match against Buddy Rogers (who is pictured in photo at left) and Bob Orton. Second-billed match is for Antonino Rocca and E. Carpenter vs. Baba Suzuki. Rocca is featured in photo at lower right. Third-billed match is for Johnny Valentine and A. Apollo vs. The Fabulous Kangaroos. Valentine was the father of popular 1980s professional wrestler Greg Valentine. Fourth-billed match is for Bobo Brazil vs, Bob Orton. Orton was the father of 1980s professional wrestler Cowboy Bob Orton and the grandfather of current wrestling star Randy Orton. Poster has small ink stamp and scattered staple holes around margins, which have become slightly brittle w/age. Lower right corner has 2x2" piece off and upper left corner has 1.5x2" corner repaired w/archival tape. Margins have some scattered chips and tears. Faint vertical crease at top center. VG overall, but would display nicely if matted/framed. Very limited print runs and few of these posters survived being posted around town.
