17x24" Home Edition of Chicago Daily Tribune, "The World's Greatest Newspaper" for Wednesday, November 3, 1948. Large page one headline "Dewey Defeats Truman" is followed by sub-heads "Puts G.O.P. Back In The White House" and "Sizable Electoral Margin Seen." An opening statement of news report by Arthur Sears Henning is "Dewey And Warren Won A Sweeping Victory In The Presidential Election Yesterday." Remainder of front page is devoted to presidential as well as state and local election bulletins and results. The incredible error on national election result actually won by Truman is credited by many as the most famous single newspaper edition of the 20th century. Section I has complete 26 pages and "Part 2" has 14 pages. Two missing pieces on fold (one .5x.5" and .5x1.5"). Several 1 to 2" spine tears. 9" pair of crease lines on front page lower left. 1x12" tan mark vertically on lower panel. VG. Historic and scarce. Julie Powell Collection.
