Four piece set. c. late 1920s. Set consists of Engine #4019, "United States Mail Railway Post Office" car #4040 and un-numbered "American" and "Pleasant View" passenger cars. Painted tin engine has all four original brass plates on sides - two "#4019" and two "American Flyer Lines". Original motor has been rewired to run and has new pick-up assembly. Engine has additional replaced parts including wheels, light cases, couplers and pantagraph. Paint on body has moderate scratches, one window has dent. VG overall. Three tin litho w/painted tin roofs cars have opening doors, lighted interiors, celluloid window panes and original couplers. All have nice realistic lithography, "Pleasant View" has brass-plated observation platform at rear. All show typical wear to roofs w/some paint chipping and tin litho sides show lt. aging. "America" has .5x1.5" area of degraded paint at one roof corner. Cars are overall Fine.
