2.75x4.5" thin paper card ©1941 Superman Inc. From a set of 24 issued for the Superman bread campaign and reverse has imprint reading "Ask For Saylor's Bread - Coming Soon – Superman Bread - Watch For It." These were bread loaf inserts issued by several different bakeries. This is card #1 titled "Spy In The Sky" w/great scene of Superman flying toward spy plane. Pledge stamp has been removed from the right margin. A complete set of eight stamps were to be sent in as enrollment in the "Superman Junior Defense League Of America" and upon doing so, one received a club badge. Has a 3/8" paper pull on left center edge (as is typical) and lt. handling wear. Lightly aged but still bright and clean. Fine by our general grading scale, card-grading scale would be VG. This is the toughest Superman card set to assemble. We are offering a number of these cards in this auction (see items #2395-2398), a rare opportunity to acquire this many at one time. We have sold complete cards in the past for between $500 and $1,200.
