Item Description
A great button with two small flaws. Letter "A" of "Sam's" has microscopic cello dot gone. Reverse collet at 1 o'clock is missing 1/8" metal fragment. This beautiful 1.5” abounds in political symbols and slogans. A white elephant representing the Republican Party stands atop a football representing the “People” with additional text “Rah! Rah!! Rah!!! A Safety’s The Score Parker & Davis 1904.” The elephant’s feet are bound with a metal band reading “Protection” and this leads to a ball and chain with caption “The Trusts.” The primary rim inscription is “Uncle Sam’s ‘White’ Elephant – It’s Game – It’s Finish.” The platform and blanket on the elephant’s back refer to “Rooseveltism – Grand Old Pirate.” Button is complete with its unique back paper poking fun at G.O.P. “White” Elephant “Healthy” Budget Deficit of $41 million dollars. A 1904 Parker classic with superb color and high gloss displaying Mint. Hake #112 with 2004 guide value of $575.00. Julie Powell Collection.
