Item Description
Complete Sept. 20, 1968 issue features cover photo of Ashe on the tennis court. "The Icy Elegance Of Arthur Ashe" cover story title refers to Ashe winning the US Amateur Championships against Davis Cup Teammate Bob Lutz, and the first US Open of the open era, becoming the first black male to capture the title. He also aided the US Davis Cup team to victory. He is the only player to have won both of these amateur and open national championships in the same year. Ashe has boldly signed his name in black felt tip pen on front cover by spine, adding "Peace" inscription. Issue has six-page article on the tennis champ w/bw and color photos. Pinch creases to spine w/some corner tip creases. Remnants of original typed label on front cover. Fine overall. Signature displays nicely. Comes with Hake's COA and JSA LOA.
