Item Description
19x29" lithograph of a pencil sketch portrait of Neil Armstrong in his NASA spacesuit as he suited up on July 16, 1969 in preparation for his launch to the moon aboard Apollo 11, where he became the first person to walk on the surface of the moon. Paul Calle was one of eight artist chosen by NASA in 1962 to document the US space program and was the only artist present when the Apollo 11 crew prepared for launch. Both Armstrong and Calle have signed this limited edition print (hand-numbered "542/1,000" at lower left in pencil) in pencil on Dec. 23, 1976 for sale at the National Air and Space Museum to raise money for the Charles Lindbergh Memorial Fund. Lithograph has all-over scattered faint age spots and some minor margin wear but would display nicely if matted and framed. These signed lithographs are very desirable, routinely selling for $3,000 to $5,000. Comes with Hake's COA and JSA LOA.
