Item Description
This 1.25" button is Hake #3177. There is no back paper or maker name. Spring pin suspends narrow rwb fabric joined to a brass loop at the top of a 1.25" complete (empty) bullet. The end of the casing is stamped "U.S.C. Co./18." This likely stands for United States Cartridge Company. On one side of the brass casing is a figural eagle with raised wings and with the body area designed as a rwb painted shield. Button has three very light hairlines in reflecting light. One crosses his forehead, one crosses his neck and one is vertical between his chin and his eyebrow. While we mention these for accuracy they show very little even in reflected light and the entire piece displays Mint as issued. Julie Powell Collection.
