Katherine McCarthy and Marion W. Smith. Paragraph notes “Youth Will Not Find It Necessary To Right Wrong Personally If They Can Enjoy Seeing It Done By Superman, Bat Man, Or Dick Tracy”. Text includes the “Magnitude Of The Comic-Magazine Problem In The Schools Of Duluth”, w/ranking of titles Bat Man #1, Superman #2, Donald Duck #3. Front cover has .25” moisture mark at spine edge. Overall covers Fine, contents Exc. c. 1955 “What’s Wrong With Comic Books?” booklet published by the “Advisory Board Of Objectionable Publications” Alberta Canada is 5.25x8.25” soft cover w/12 pages. Classic front cover art has boy w/apple reading book while above him monsters, gangsters, murder and mayhem take precedence over more acceptable literary characters. Contents include six sections w/nothing good to say about comic books. Includes “Some ‘Comics’ Portray Violent Death, Grotesque, Fantastic and Unnatural Creatures With Repulsive Realism” w/art of boy being chased by monster. List of related publications in back includes Josette Frank books and pamphlets (see following item #1367) and Frederic Wertham’s “Seduction Of The Innocent”. Upper left corner has two staple holes, trace of lt. cover dust soil. Overall Fine/VF. Both had limited distribution.
