Vol. 13 No. 45, March 2,1948 “Town Meeting” ABC radio magazine is 5.25x7.75” w/24 pages. Complete issue details show titled “What’s Wrong With The Comics?” moderated by George V. Denny Jr. w/guests Li’l Abner creator Al Capp, lecturer John Mason Brown, comic book publisher George J. Hecht, writer Marya Mannes. Capp and Hecht are pro comic strips and comic books, Mannes is against comic books. Includes wonderful wit by Al Capp. This was Detective Comics, Inc. co-founder J.S. Liebowitz’ personal copy. Top of front cover has pencil initials and note “J.S.L. Do You Want For Your Files”. March 1949 “Public Affairs Pamphlet #148 Comics, Radio, Movies And Children” by Josette Frank is 5.25x8-3/8” w/stiff paper covers and 32 pages. Sections include: “Do Comics Create Fears?, Crime And The Comics, Why Do Children Love Comics?” Art images include mother reading newspaper headline “Comic Books Inspire Crime!” as son reads comic and boy daydreaming of being a superhero. Frank was on National Comics Editorial Advisory Board. Both have trace of edge wear. VF. Limited distribution. Both were likely an influence on Frederic Wertham’s “Seduction Of The Innocent” book.
