First is 5.25x7” paper folder mailer w/undated but May 19, 1945 “Saturday Evening Post” John Falter front cover. Folder opens to full page ad due to run Aug. 14 titled “A Million Young People Will Be Better Citizens Because Of A Comics Magazine Character”. Text mentions Superman radio show contest and prizes including belt. Exc. Next is 10-7/8x14.75” ad proof from Jan. 9, 1950 “Advertising Age” w/Oct. 14, 1949 endorsement from Women’s International Exposition sent to editor Whitney Ellsworth w/reproduction of Medallion of Honor which will be given to National Comics for “Constructive Advancement In Comic Books”. Proof has horizontal centerfold as issued w/two archival tape repairs on blank reverse. Fine. Third item is “25th Anniversary Independent News Co. 1932-1957” 8.5x11” stiff paper four page menu w/foil accent covers. Front cover has caricatures of various people wearing “IND” football uniforms around trophy. Back cover has pennant images w/publication titles including “DC Comics, MAD, Goodman, Crestwood”. Inside includes owners names Harry Donenfeld, Jack S. Liebowitz, and Paul Sampliner and menu. Lt. handling creases. Fine. A limited distribution obscure trio for the DC collector or comics historian.
