Item Description
The first three items in this group, like our previous rare hopeful lapel stud for Blackburn, all received votes on the first four ballots leading up to Bryan's nomination on the fifth ballot. The first two buttons are each 7/8" and the first reads "For President Robt. E. Pattison." Missing a back paper but otherwise NM with just the slightest trace of a little tone on the white stripe at the top. High gloss. Pattison remained third in the balloting through all five ballots. We believe the embossed brass stickpin in the group also portrays him. The hair, mustache and bow tie are a close match. This item, the first we've seen and with Mint luster, is 2.5" tall. The second button in this group reads "For President, Horace Boies." This has W&H back paper and Boies came in fifth on the first ballot and received votes on the first four. Last item in this group is a 3.75" fabric ribbon missing material from both the top and bottom edges but what remains is quite clean with just a little curl at the lower left corner. Riveted at the center is a 1.75" celluloid of 1896 Republican hopeful Hon. Thomas B. Reed.
