Item numbers 1 through 988 in auction 212
Item Description
11/16" litho with her portrait and facsimile signature below. This social reformer joined the WCTU in 1883 and worked for social reform including woman suffrage. She headed New York's WCTU from 1898 up to 1925. Headed the national group and from 1931 to 1947 and also headed the world WCTU. She was also a political candidate challenging James Wadsworth, Jr. for the Republican party Senate nomination and upon loosing she ran as the candidate of the Prohibition party. She died in 1952 at age 93 and this button seems to date from the 1930s. There is a tiny scratch above her eye at left but it blends and barely shows. Only example we've seen.
