Item Description
Smallest is 7/8" and largest is 1.75". Button at top left "Crush Cancerous Communism" has metal back like those used on 1936 F.D.R. and Landon buttons and is very likely from that year. Below is a second we've not seen before from c.early 1950s reading "Army & Navy Union U.S.A./Help Fight Communism." At top center is button "I'm For Robert Welch." He was a Republican candidate for Lt. Gov. of Massachusetts in 1950 and became a Robert Taft supporter and then prominent contributor to Joseph McCarthy's 1952 Senate re-election campaign. With several others, including Fred Koch father of Charles and David (Koch Industries), he founded the John Birch Society in December, 1958 and that is the era of this button. Many additional interesting and quite scarce buttons in the group. The only one with a little age is the first in row three with a few faint gray marks. Vast majority are NM displaying Mint.
