Item Description
27x41" one-sheet poster for the 1949 re-release of the 1943 MGM animated cartoon "The Lonesome Mouse," the tenth "Tom And Jerry" short, notable for being the first speaking role of the cat and mouse duo. Directed by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera, the cartoon's animators were not credited (typical for early MGM shorts), and this was the last instance in a "Tom And Jerry" cartoon that this happened, all future "Tom And Jerry" theatrical shorts credited the animators. Animators for this cartoon included Kenneth Muse, George Gordon, Jack Zander, Irven Spence, and Pete Burness. Poster features great image of Jerry waving as Tom is picked up by the scruff of his neck (much to his surprise) by stereotypical African-American character Mammy Two Shoes. Poster has been folded, w/some small tears along fold line edges and scattered lt. margin wear, more noticeable along bottom. Tape reinforcements to backs of fold crease intersections. VG/Fine. From the Don Maris Collection.
