Item Description
This group has numerous high quality well made pins that were produced for fund raising purposes early in the war years. Sizes range from a couple of small ones at .75" to 1" up to much larger pieces in the top two rows and first two in row three which are as much as 3" long or tall. These pieces are finished in bright brass luster with enamel paint. First is "Remember Pearl Harbor" with airplane headed towards the Pacific Ocean and with Hawaii marked with an inset simulated pearl. Reverse text "For Aid To The Honolulu Community Chest" and with name of maker "Lampl." Next is one we've never seen before reading "United China Relief." Maker name on back "Accessocraft, N.Y." Third is for Greek War Relief with text on back "Official G.W.R.S. By Accessocraft." Fourth shows eagle placing sword into outstretched hand with text above "Defend America/Aid The Allies." Brass back reads "Official C.D.A.A.A." and also made by Accessocraft. Fifth with British theme is marked on the back with maker name "Silson/Patented." Next has bow and ribbon design with ribbons having raised gold lettering "Liberte/Egalite/Fraterine." Reverse also names Silson. This reverse is a hinged piece with a pair of long stickpin-like fasteners. Next reads "RAF" on the front also by Silson. Next has British front with reverse text "Official B.W.R.S." and this is by Accessocraft. Next is smaller version of the previous with same markings on back although this is a lapel stud with threaded post. Next with both reading B.W.R.S. (British War Relief Society) is a thumbs up stickpin and a pair of wings with "RAF" at the center. This one also by Accessocraft. Next on a rare original card is metal pin showing parachutist with initials across the center "R.W.R." with text below "Insignia Of Russian War Relief" and text above "Happy Landing To Our Russian Front Fighters." The pin is scarce and the card is rare. Next on a stiff cardboard reads "Memento" at top with text below "Made With Actual Bombed Wood From War Torn England." This repeats the British design of the piece in the row above. First seen. Last on an original card with some minor damage is beautifully made pin by Balfour with enameling and "Young America Wants To Help." Last is a 3x5x5/16" deep painted metal cigarette case with gold foil sticker on the beautiful patterned brass interior "Sole Authentic Case For Benefit Of British War Relief Society And Bundles For Britain." Front panel has about half dozen long horizontal scratches but they are not even deep enough to break through the paint and just catch reflected light. With normal viewing, like all the other items in this group, appearance is essentially Mint. An outstanding collection of many official relief pins.
