Item Description
First is 10.5x15" half page from a 1939 Sunday newspaper comic section. It announces "Dick Tracy Returns To The Air Tomorrow" and pictures the premiums available to 1939 club members. Bottom has one vertical tear 3" barely showing with neat archival tape repair on reverse. Next, as pictured in the ad is the "New 1939 Revised Edition Dick Tracy Secret Service Patrol Secret Code Book." This is 3x6" with 16-pages showing each of the club ranks with details on how to achieve that rank plus much other club information. Couple tiny 1/16" indents on the front cover but overall extremely Fine. Next is 8.5x14" folded certificate of membership which has the member's "Promotion Record" at the right and complete with three gold and one silver seal glued into position upon receipt when the member advanced from the rank of Sargent to Lieutenant to Captain to Inspector General. The member dated each advancement in ink or pencil and also signed the certificate with his mother witnessing. Some age tone on the right side but overall VG. Last and rarest are the four letters each 5x7.5" which came to the member along with their brass badges. First two are lightly tanned while the third has extensive tanning and the last and most important remains NM. In order these letters congratulate the member on achieving the rank of Sargent, Lieutenant, Captain, and finally "Dear Inspector-General: Your Appointment To The Rank Of Inspector-General Is The Highest Honor I Can Bestow On Any Member Of The Dick Tracy Secret Service Patrol. You Have Reach The Top And I Am Proud Of You" Several additional paragraphs of complimentary text with a numbered code below which the original owner of this group took the time to write down and decode with the coded slogan reading "Be True To Yourself And Dick Tracy Secret Service Patrol Pledge." These letters and the foil seals on the Promotion Record are very rare.
