Lot of eight 6" tall wood composition figures from scarce figural series of famous Americans by Syracuse Ornamental Company, maker of wood composition novelties. Included are Presidents George Washington, Abraham Lincoln and Theodore Roosevelt (in Rough Riders uniform), New York historical figure Peter Stuyvesant (Dutch Director-General of the colony of New Netherland), actor Will Rogers, businessman, financier, and philanthropist Diamond Jim Brady, daredevil Steve Brodie (who claimed to have jumped off the Brooklyn Bridge and lived) and a figure of Paul Bunyan who was done in the same period and in a similar style to the Great American series, but is not included in that series. The Great American series included a total of 10 figures that also included boxer John L. Sullivan, Buffalo Bill Cody and Benjamin Franklin. The Stuyvesant figure is variety w/1941 copyright on underside of base rather than on back of base like the others in this lot. Overall tiny traces of wear but all are VF/Exc. Rarely offered in this amount all at once and in this condition.
