Item Description
Pair of tapestries depicting the fairgrounds of the 1939-1940 New York World's Fair. First measures 21.5x40.5" and is plush velveteen w/stitched margins (left/right margins mostly missing fringe trim). Made in Italy. Tapestry shows Statue of Liberty along w/Trylon and Perisphere buildings w/New York and two bridges (including Brooklyn Bridge) in bkg. Moderate but even aging. Fine. Second tapestry measures 20x55" and is more detailed, having an almost cross-stitched feel. Woven into back of tapestry is "Made In Belgium N.Y.W.F. Lic. 839" text. Depicts Trylon and Perisphere buildings at center w/"Federal Building" at left and "Administration Building" at right. Bottom center margin has "New York World's Fair" text. Lightly aged but o/w Exc.
