Item Description
Complete run of all five issues of the first series of this pulp fanzine published by Fantasy Publications, 1934-1935. This publication isn't a pulp but a stapled booklet ranging in size from 5x7.25" (first four issues) to 8x9-5/8". The semi-pro fanzine features a number of major pulp fantasists and is sometimes confused w/the later Red Circle publication of the same title. Authors include Forrest J. Ackerman, Robert Bloch (including his first published story; "Lillies" in Winter 1934 issue), H.P. Lovecraft, Robert E. Howard, August Derleth, Miles J. Breuer and others. Issues have scattered aging/wear. First issue has strips of aged tape all along spine and right margin of front cover. .25x1" chip out of back cover at bottom center. Good/VG. Second issue has inked note on back cover at top. VG/Fine. Third issue has some corner creases and cover overlap wear w/some small tears. Fine. Fourth issue has more moderate cover edge wear w/.5" piece missing off bottom of spine and .25" tear at top of spine. Inked note on back cover at top. VG. Last issue cover shows moderate wear w/some aged tape along spine at bottom, staple rust and large area of moisture staining at top and left/right margins, more noticeable on back cover. 1" corner off back cover. Good/VG.
