Item Description
Original cardboard box w/illustrated lid contains 10.5" long tin litho Jeep w/three-dimensional tin litho figure of Smokey the Bear from knees up behind steering wheel. Made in Japan by Nomura, 1960s. Box lid shows obvious wear including 7" tear across top and onto sides w/smaller 2.5" side panel tear. Back side panel has some moisture staining along bottom edge/corner and inking on end panel. Opposite end panel has original store price sticker. Box is complete and just Good, but still displayable. Rare. Toy is nicely detailed including Jeep attachments w/fire prevention slogans on hood, sides and rear. "Smokey" name appears on hat band and hubcaps. Windshield folds down and hood has flashing light. On rear deck is separate attached fire extinguisher w/hose and shovel. Toy works and actions include bump-and-go, flashing light and beeping noise. As worn as box is, toy is just the opposite. Toy remains bright and glossy in choice Exc. condition. Scarce toy nicely depicting this American icon.
