Six cardboard sheets 9 x 12” hold Marshall Levin’s collection of 126 different hopeful buttons from 1976 plus 18 for the 1976 Socialist Workers third party who nominated Camejo and Reid to lead their ticket. Button sizes are up to 4”. Most buttons are cello with 37 of the 126 being litho. Of the litho, 24 of these are for Mo Udall. Buttons that appear identical are actually varieties as Marshall had a keen eye for subtle differences. Collection breaks down as follows: There are 6 buttons with political themes but no specific person named. One of these is the scarce “First National Democratic Issues Convention” showing donkey at center of target design. In random order the others are: 1 Baker, 1 Ford/Sen. Finch, 1 Bill Doherty, 1 Kuczynski, 1 Taft, 1 Fatso Fogarty, 1 Mondale, 2 Harris, 1 Kimball Kinnison, 1 Betty Ford, 1 Ted Kennedy Early Birds, 13 Scoop Jackson, 3 Sanford, 1 Humphrey, 4 Shapp, 2 Helms, 6 Agnew spoofs, 1 Buckley, 1 Buckley/Byrd, 2 Byrd, 2 Arch Moore, 1 Percy, 1 Bayh/Askew, 1 Bayh for VP, 18 Bayh including “Staff”, 1 Bona, 1 Blessitt, 1 Kirkpatrick, 5 Benson, 6 Jerry Brown, 38 Mo Udall, 18 Socialist Workers plus three small papers 3x5.” A great collection largely assembled during the 1976 campaign year.
