This item is listed as Cleveland #3106 in Hake book 3. At that time we misidentified this ribbon viewing the “CT” at top as Cleveland and Thurman. In fact it is a “TC” for Tippecanoe Club. This 9.5” tall hand painted ribbon features an eagle and flag at top and an Indian paddling a canoe at bottom. At center is a revival of the 1840 W.H. Harrison log cabin motif. Many Benjamin Harrison items used imagery from his grandfather’s campaign and this is one of the more attractive ones. Fabric has light horizontal ripple at mid-point and bottom left extreme edge has 3/8” narrow line of fabric once loose but now tacked into place, although repair made slightly darker mark. A few widely scattered pinpoint tan dots as well. Fabric is topped by a big, heavy, mint luster brass wreath that reads across the bottom in raised letters “Semper Fidelis 1888” while above two links suspend initials “TC” which allows them to move. Overall Fine and an outstanding and rare 1888 Harrison ribbon.
