Item Description
3.25" deep wood box with hinged lid 4.75x4.75". Lid is capped by chocolate brown molded thermoplastic plate recessed slightly towards the central oval around the slightly raised and nicely detailed bust portrait and name within the oval. Front edge of wood lid secures by small brass hasp. Some age on interior box bottom with hairline traces of glue at edges. Underside stamped into wood at center "Scovill M'F'G. Co. N.Y. Pat. 8-28-1877." Underside has hairline splits along one side edge and bottom chip off one corner. Molded lid is Exc. Holds what seems to be original or at least period, collar that looks and feels like celluloid, but with text on inner surface "Rubber/National Brand" and for some reason the word "Roosevelt." Couple splits on interior of collar surface, but minor.
