Larger 7.5x9.5" opening has glossy bw photo of both Murphy and co-star Stewart. Murphy (1925-1971), was one of the most decorated American combat soldiers of World War II, receiving every military combat award for valor available from the US Army, as well as French and Belgian awards for heroism. Murphy received the Medal of Honor after single-handedly holding off an entire company of Germans for an hour in France in Jan., 1945, only to lead a successful counterattack while wounded and out of ammunition. After the war, Murphy became a film star and tragically died in a plane crash at the age of 45. Murphy has signed in blue felt tip pen while Stewart has signed in silver paint pen, which is lt. in a few areas, but still totally legible. A rarely seen combination of autographs. Displays Exc.
