Item Description
Original illustrated cardboard box contains 8.5" long (to tip of propeller) painted tin airplane w/7" wide tin litho wingspan. Ferdinand Strauss Corp., 1920s. Wings feature slightly dimensional die-cut tin litho pilot figure. Box features great imagery of air mail pilot dropping letters on children as he flies over. Box shows heavy and obvious aging, staining and wear w/two inner flaps missing from one end. Just Fair, but box is scarce. Plane has "Mailplane" text across wings w/the number "43" at each wingtip. Paint has darkened w/age and tail fin and propeller have some scattered paint wear. Wind-up mechanism works. Fine overall.
