Original illustrated cardboard box contains 12" long painted tin wind-up airplane w/12-3/8" wide tin litho wingspan w/large "Lightning" name. Tailfins are also tin litho and feature "Katz Toys" name and kittens logo. Plane has built-in key. Henry Katz & Co. Inc., 1920s. Box features great plane graphics w/repeated "Lightning" name and "No. 127" designation. Box shows wear w/inward warp to top main panel, box is missing one inner flap and has 5.5" edge split and 1.75 tear to end flap. VG, but box is rare. Toy features working wind-up action that causes plane to move forward and propeller to rotate. Plane is lightly aged and has some small scattered paint wear. VF overall.
